Event Description
Ondru presents Human Thesis: Hazara Stories, a storytelling and community-building art project that brings to life the voices of displaced Hazara community members through art and connection. Through photography, weaving, sculpture and performance, the exhibition reflects on home, freedom, identity and belonging among Hazara people now rebuilding their lives in Melbourne.
Partly funded by the City of Greater Dandenong and created in partnership with the Shamama Association, the project was developed over six months through a series of art-based workshops with Hazara community members in Dandenong. Through shared stories, memories and symbolic objects, participants explored what it means to leave home and to slowly rebuild a sense of belonging in a new place.
Working with associate artists Zsofia Samu and Shane Lam, these stories have been transformed into woven forms and layered photographic portraits that reveal the multiplicity of identity and the quiet strength of endurance.
Ondru invites audiences into a space of listening and reflection. Grounded in dignity, lived experience and cultural respect, Human Thesis is an intimate and moving encounter with resilience, memory and the search for home.
